April 7th, day 3...going home day!

April 7th

It is Monday and the surgery was Friday.  I am still rejuvenated by the new blood and my Dr. Said I could go home today if it goes Ok when I get out of bed and walk.   Soon a physical therapist come along and I am going for that walk.  It went OK.  I get to bear weight right away which is already a vast improvement over the first hip replacement!  Back then it was 6 weeks before I could bear any weight!  The occupational therapist  also came to my room to help me learn how to dress and put on socks and shoes with the tools they have but I have done this before so it was not awkward and I even had a trick I taught her for using my reacher/grabber thing to pull on socks as I used the sock helper to slide them over my feet!  :-)

I am just finishing with the therapists when Val arrives with my chariot to take me home!  I can hardly wait to get there and see my dogs and climb into my own bed!  It is also Val's birthday today so we stop at Culver's drive through for lunch on the way home and eat it when we get here.  I really don't have much of an appetite at all yet so one chicken strip and a couple of fries and sips of my chocolate malt was all I could handle but I had some to warm up later!

I spent a lot of the rest of the day in bed and asleep on and off.  That anesthesia sure does knock a person for a loop!
